The Pearl
Take part in the festival of nature with its impressions! The lake and mountain scenery surrounding you – the Königssee, Watzmann and Ramsauer Kirche – may well create a sense of déjà vu – they are subjects that decorate calendars and postcards and are familiar around the world. And that is not all: the magnificent Alpine National Park Berchtesgaden was established in 1978. The beauty of the mountains and the fact that the neighbouring Mozart city of Salzburg is within touching distance have together created a unique holiday symbiosis of nature, sport and arts. Berchtesgaden is known for the historic sights in the town, the salt mines, Kehlstein House or the royal palace. This is also the place to experience living tradition and fascinating customs, these arre never more alive than here at the foot of the watzmann. In winter the small but choice skiing areas offer the best the sport has to offer in terms of fun for young and old: floodlit skiing for example at Rofssfeld or.
Soft mobility connections
If only everything in life could be so simple! The railway station is right at the centre of town (with S-line train connection for Salzburg), and the buses take you from here to virtually every possible place to stay. The „Watzmann Express“ links Salzburg and Berchtesgaden with a direct bus line.
Soft mobility in the pearl
Perfect public transport services! Guests in Berchtesgaden can buy a reduced price day or week ticket fort he RVO (the regional transport network for Upper Bavaria). You can really get around with this ticket, for example you can travel quickly to all the neighbouring towns and cities, such as Salzburg and Bad Reichenhall. Berchtesgaden station is a good place to get onto the RVO network and go as you please. In town itself there are plenty of places for hiring a bicycle – or an innovative „movelo“ electric bike.
Special soft mobility services
Mobility without limits – sit back and relax! Electric boats will take you to the St. Bartholomä Peninsula; a bus will take you to the Kehlstein House, high above the roofs of Berchtesgaden. Explore the entire region around Berchtesgaden with the RVO one week rover ticket. The new local railway line Salzburg-Berchtesgaden-Bad Reichenhall has brought the entire region much closer together. Ride up the Alpine pastures of the Klausbachtal with the hiker and holiday experience bus – the only bus line in the Berchtesgaden National park.
