The Pearl
Experience of nature and tradition with the advantages of soft mobility! Tires lies at a height of 1020 metres above sea level and has around 1000 inhabitants. It is strategically placed at the heart of the walking path network snugly embedded between the biggest high Alpine pasture area in Europe, the Seiser Alm and the Dolomites Catinaccio massif. The community is also situated at the entrance to the 6,796 hectare Sciliar-Catinaccio Natural Park. This is the ideal location for spending a wonderful holiday with no need for a car. Only 22 km from the provincial capital Bolzano it is a place where enthusiastic walkers and mountain climbers find what they are looking for in summer and where snowshoe walkers can have unforgettable experiences in an unrivalled winter landscape. This is a place to find the remarkable, such as the 14 hour walk around the Catinaccio with the world famous mountaineer Hans Kammerlander, or a full day with a qualified guide in our Natural Park giving our guests an exceptionally clear perspective on the magnificent flora and fauna or about the legendary Dolomite Mountains.

Arrival is so easy and comfortable with public transport! The train will bring you direct to the provincial capital of South Tyrol. In Bolzano change to the SAD public bus line. Your host will of course, be pleased to pick you up in Bolzano.
Soft mobility in the pearl
Attractive bus services ensures an easy going holiday! Take one of the twice daily buses up to the Passo Costalunga, from here a hikers' bus can take you on to the Eggentaler and to the lifts at Paolina and Laurin. The bus leaves 4x daily to Seis and the Seiser Alm circuit track. In winter a half hourly skiing bus service takes you direct to the winter sports area at Carezza. A great bus service provides a link with Bolzano. New in summer 2007: 24 hour taxi service in Tires!

600 km paths to walk with ten climbs providing variety and enormous fun! The Tourism Association in Tires offers guided walks several times a week, among others in the Sciliar-Catinaccio Natural Park. Exciting snowshoe walks have become a very popular feature in winter.
