First time visitors to Pragelato immediately will feel safe and serene in this village surrounded by peaks above 3,000 m high. The 19 districts of the village have all kept their authenticity and carry French names. This proves the strong, centuries-long liaison with France, which is just around the corner.
Pragelato is located in the upper Val Chisone, amidst the Cottian Alps, and welcomes its guests both in summer and in winter. In Pragelato you will find traces of past cultures, whose characteristics like particular last names, distinct facial features, language or character traits of the native inhabitants have been maintained.
The love of snow has a long tradition and is reflected in the high quality offers of the village, which include marvellous winter sports activities like cross-country skiing, downhill skiing or snow shoe hiking.
Pragelato is home to a mountain people still practising the Occitan language. Culinary art in Pragelato

The traditional cuisine of Pragelato reflects the everyday life and work of the locals. The produces of cattle breeding and the work in the fields are the main ingredients of its dishes. Many of them are therefore prepared on the basis of potatoes and seasonal vegetables, often also including pork. Typical cheese of the region is the Plaisentif (violet cheese).

Nature park Val Troncea
The Nature Park Val Troncea offers a variety of hiking paths in any season. The nature reserve Banchetta-Vallonetto and Beth provides 22 signposted itineraries that guide you through diverse areas of unspoilt nature. In winter you may explore the valley along the cross-country ski tracks.
Another conservation area close to Pragelato is the Nature Park Gran Bosco, which offers not only beautiful nature, but also a number of old fortifications, which are witnesses to the eventful history of the area. Within the park you can hike on 14 different signposted itineraries and several nature trails.

Long-distance hiking trails
Pragelato's mountain pastures spread around the theme walk "Plaisentif", a loop trail informing about the region's pasture farming as well as the extraordinary cheese "Plaisentif" also known as violet cheese. A warm recommendation especially to families and flaneurs!

Long-distance bicycle trails
Passionate mountain bikers will not miss out on the legendary Tour dell'Assietta and the loop trail of Val Troncea.
