The 19 districts of the village have all kept their authenticity and carry French names. This proves the strong, centuries-long liaison with France, which is just around the corner. 

Pragelato is located in the upper Val Chisone, amidst the Cottian Alps, and welcomes its guests both in summer and in winter. The traditional cuisine of Pragelato reflects the everyday life and work of the locals. The produces of cattle breeding and the work in the fields are the main ingredients of its dishes. Many of them are therefore prepared on the basis of potatoes and seasonal vegetables, often also including pork. Typical cheese of the region is the Plaisentif (violet cheese).
