25 years of the Alpine Space Programme

It was a pleasure to attend the 25th anniversary event of the Interreg Alpine Space funding programme. Happy birthday!
For Alpine Pearls this programme has been an important instrument and driver for our work and transnational cooperation in our local municipalities and also in context with excellent partners and institutions. This programme is a huge support for the sustainable development and cooperation in the Alpine arc.
Among the participants at the event were mainly representatives from project partners, authorities, academia and consulting companies as well as other interested parties, including a pleasing number of young people.
In addition to networking opportunities, the event programme included panel discussions on various focal points and exchanges on the so-called triangle between Alpine Space, the Alpine Convention and EUSALP with many leading figures.
The BeyondSnow and the HumanFactor projects, in which we are involved (in BeyondSnow as one of the 13 project partners and in HumanFactor as an observer), were also represented on site in the huge Expo Area, where all the projects came together, some already in the last period or those that have just started.
The ‘Idea Lab’ workshop on the second day was also useful and a great opportunity. It focused on the new call and involved working together in groups on a fictitious project idea to interactively deal with the formal requirements.
We look forward to what we hope will be the next 25 years of this unique and enormously important programme in the development of the Alpine region.
